Terry Naturally Thyroid Care

Last Updated on

Terry Naturally Vitamins is big supplement company carrying over 60 different products in the dietary supplement industry. Unsurprisingly, they also have a thyroid support supplement, Terry Naturally Thyroid Care. This thyroid product has only two ingredients: Iodine, an essential mineral needed for thyroid hormone production, and L-Tyrosine, an amino acid required to create thyroid hormones. Both of these ingredients are vital to a healthy thyroid, but research seems to suggest the amount of Iodine found in this supplement is dangerous and counterproductive to improving your thyroid health.1

WHAT IS Terry Naturally Thyroid Care?

Terry Naturally is a brand of nutrients and vitamins founded by Terry Lemerond. They currently have over 400 unique formulations. One of these supplements is Thyroid Care. Terry Naturally Thyroid Care states it can provide support for healthy thyroid, enhance metabolism, promote breast health, and support immune function. Certainly a lot of claims are made by Terry Naturally…  Let’s see how if the formula lives up to the claims.

Terry Naturally Thyroid Care EFFECTS AND BENEFITS

Besides the outdated website, we decided we should see how this supplement works. Sometimes you can’t judge a book by its cover. As with all supplements, it is important to look over the ingredients on the Nutritional Facts label. Terry Naturally Thyroid Care contains only the most basic essentials: Iodine and L-Tyrosine. Iodine is certainly important to healthy thyroid functionality – perhaps the most important of any ingredient. In Terry Naturally Thyroid Care, Iodine comes in three forms, including potassium iodide, sodium iodide, and molecular iodine for thyroid hormone synthesis. It’s worthy how much Iodine is actually in this pill. The supplement facts sheet states that there is 30 mg of iodine in one serving size. That’s 20,000% of the daily recommended value! Online research seems to suggest that this is a dangerously high amount. The second ingredient is L-Tyrosine, which is also essential in Thyroid health. There is 400mg in one serving size, which is near the amount that we should take.

Not all thyroid issues stem from just iodine and L-Tyrosine deficiency. As many articles and research papers point out online (here’s one I found in two seconds on Google: http://chriskresser.com/the-role-of-vitamin-d-deficiency-in-thyroid-disorders/) , other vitamin deficiency can lead to your thyroid not functioning as well as it should be. It’s strange why Terry Naturally only decided to put two ingredients in this.

PROS:
  • Lots of Iodine

CONS:
  • Only two ingredients
  • No vitamins
  • May be ineffective

Terry Naturally Thyroid Care REVIEW AND EXPERIENCES

Although we ranked Terry Naturally Thyroid Care to be pretty low, we decided to see what other people were saying about this supplement. There seems to be a good amount of negative reviews about Terry Naturally Thyroid Care. According to reviews on Amazon, it seems to have no effect on a good number of people and for others, it seems it may have actually made them feel ill. Of course, every individual is unique, and those could be outlier situations. But, there do seem to be a number of people it has not done much for. When compared to the other leading thyroid support supplements available out there on the market, Terry Naturals Thyroid Care doesn’t really cut it. Based on what we’ve experienced with it, we can’t really recommend it.

I’ve noticed weight loss in three days of usage. My energy is gradually increasing but the mental fog hasn’t lifted. I hope to see more results soon.

Does caffeine lessen the effectiveness of Thyroid Care as it supposedly does if taking Synthroid?

It is good to fine a thyroid supplement with minimal and necessary ingredients I need for thyroid help because I take a multi-vitamin and another supplement that provides all they other amino acids, enzymes, vitamins, etc that many of the other multi-ingredient thyroid supplements contain. So I would be double, triple and quadruple dosing on these other ingredients if I took those multi-ingredients supplements. The trick is to read labels. Terry Naturally does have a high amount of iodine but I don’t plan on taking it every day just because of this and/or taking it as needed and watching my iodine intake from other supplements and foods.

This thyroid supplement contains a lot of iodine which could potentially make those with hashimoto’s feel worse and even lead to flare ups.

Do not recommend for someone with a sensitive stomach.

+ PROS: Helped with my problem.
    - CONS: Very hard on my stomach, which got worse after taking it for several weeks. Had to stop taking it. Looking for another product.

I was advised to take iodine in the form of thyroid care( by terry naturally) along with Selenium and vitamin E and
continue taking my Levothyroxine. I have done this for 7 months. I have also permanently altered my diet to all
fresh, portion measured, good protein with very good fats only. I am 70 years old and have been an alternative
(or complimentary) medical practicing individual since my son got sick from 2 to 4 years old and I discovered he
had 2 rare parasites. They were gotten rid of by homeopathics. I do see a regular allopathic physician and she
was the one who diagnosed me with hypothyroidism and prescribed the losest dose of levo (25 Mcg). It seemed
to clear up everything for the first 6 – 8 months and then the eye sensitivity, watering, cold shakes and sleeplesslness plus the creeping weight gain started. All these symtoms have not only disappeared but I have
lost 18 lbs and I look amazing.. I am going to continue on this regimen for another 10 – 12 lbs. weight loss and then taper off the thyroid care and see what happens. I am also back to regular exercise, stopped drinking too much coffee and alcohol. I am looking for more info on why this Thyroid Care has so much iodine in it; and , I am going to get blood work after I get off to see where my TSH etc stands. I feel fantastic, I look incredible and if I still have some lose skin in the middle I am going to have a Tummy Tuck and wear my favorite bikini. My last 15 to 20 years are going to be fabulous. I was only 6 points out of range on my initial blood work. For people who
are way out of range I think will have a lot more issues trying this. Mary R.

+ PROS: It seems to fight off things that are wrong in your system
    - CONS: At first I was still taking my prescription, when I stopped taking it I felt better

Patricia, not sure if you’ll get to see this but, now almost a month later, do you still feel as good on this Thyroid Care? Do you get regular blood work? For you to go off your prescription, where are your levels now?
      Thanks,
      Denise F.
